parade

Another Tremendous Fish
4" x 4" mixed media drawing on black paper

Illustration Friday's theme this week is Parade ~ a parade of fish! The above drawing is based on the 12" x 12" painting to the right. Many artists do larger paintings based on their smaller drawings; I'm the opposite.

Love the pattern (herringbone?) you use in both of these pieces. You always seem to be on the cutting edge.

Great parade of both the living and the dead.

They're both gorgeous, as usual. And seeing as I'm so partial to your rich use of colour, I'd still go for the painting. That red is unbelievable.

very cool, I love how they are so different just by changing the colors and lines & texture. It would actually be a very cool exercise to get the mojo going as it opens up the infitinte possibilites! I think I love each one equally for different reasons :)

BTW, just a heads up that I hung my paintings at the Frogstone Grill on Monday so if you are in the area, give me a call & maybe I can meet you down there for a drink :)

There's nothing ever wrong with a piscatorial parade, and as usual this is a parade worth viewing.

I interpret this as a symbol of how we have depleted the fish stocks. Even though they have been around for hundreds of millions of years longer than us, we've terminated their lease in only a few short centuries.

Which is a real shame because I like fish... even though we are opposites. Their gills are inside-out lungs and our lungs are outside-in gills...OH except for the not being able to blink part..I like to blink.

Laure: Cutting edge! I like the sound of that!

Caroline: All life's a parade and I guess all death is, too. :)

WW: Thx and red is my favourite! I canna tell a lie.

Tracey: How long will they be there? This week isn't good for me but next week..?

OG: I love your blog idea. Thanks for visiting.

Detlef: Piscatorial parade -- you are an artist with words, too!

Val: Something circle-of-life-ish about it, isn't there?

Moot: Profound as usual.

What I great idea, I think. You have so many interesting areas in your large paintings I think it's wonderful to be able to focus on just a tiny bit of them at a time.
