These are the last two in the series of mini drawings. Next: bigger drawings of bigger birds. Gulp. All these birds (see the set of six here) visit our feeders on occasion. Actually, the species in the top drawing (Varied Thrush) was immortalized on my blog here.
Nice, they look especially great altogether on your website. Bigger birds? Do you have reference photos yet? Been spotting lots of bald eagles and blue herons around these days. It must be spring (even if it doesn't feel like it yet)
Thanks, all. Caroline: for once there's no meaning behind the accompanying leaves. I just choose as I go. Ellen: I have the photos and have done one drawing. Not really happy with it, but I'll keep at it!
Sorry, C. I meant to answer but forgot! If you google leaf or leaves and then look at some image charts you'll see a few. I don't know what they are -- just liked the shapes!

I really like the stance of the first bird!
The thrush looks like a robin, in shape...but I guess that's what a robin is, a thrush.
And geez, if I could only see one as we continue to get pelted by snow, it's the first true sign of spring here, to me...argh.
Lovely images, Andrea. But what of your work isn't?
I get lots of purple finches here - I think they are lovely.
Lovely birds. Love the colour combination.

I love the complete set. Looking forward to the bigger birds!
These are beautiful bird paintings!
I was not aware of the purple finch, very interesting feathered fellow.
Somehow I'd missed your video of Zulu before...
How are you picking the leaves to go with each bird? Is there some hidden meaning?
I'm consistenly charmed by our resident varied thrush, and love your depiction.
I need to buy a bird feeder. Gorgeous pieces Andrea!

Always a delight, if a bit of a puzzle to me. I'm learning more about your birds, thanks to your drawings and m's photos.
Note to self: take photo of jay for Andrea ;-)

Oh good - in that case please let me know which types of leaves they are and I can analyse them for you!!
Come on - do tell - its not like you to be shy of analysis!

Hmm.. that's a really wriggly out sort of answer!
Do you mean 'lazy'? :)
Did you?
love the pose of number one bird!
