zulu ~ warrior princess in action

We came home yesterday afternoon to discover that a female Varied Thrush had committed hari-kari against our back windows and was lying on the deck. Here’s Zulu, feline hunter extraordinaire’s, interpretation of the situation. Good thing we saw this; I'll remember never to mess with her again.

(And in case you're wondering, yes, I realize that I have now hit rock bottom by posting a terrible-quality video -- without an audio track even -- of my cat on my blog. But look at it this way: it can only get better.)

You rock!

This isn't rock bottom! You're at the top of the heap, Baby, now that you've joined the YouTube genre!

Zulu looks a little perplexed, however...didn't he consider the thrush Tweety and, well, feast?

Oh did everybody else had anxiety watching it? I was waiting for something really gruesome and then I realized there was a paper napkin under the bird and came to the conclusion that this cat is not gonna get her paws messy. Good good kitty!!!

Zulu looks like a twin to our Mia - she does the exact same thing when confronted with non-moving prey... (Does your cat try to take over your studio chair too?)

She's playing innocent for the camera. I'm nice while people are watching, too. But I'm not a cat. :)
I have the same "soundless" camera as you have. Mine doesn't work any longer. It refuses to turn on.

And your cat is called Zulu!! Are you sure you're not African?

I notice that, unlike me who does (did) the bird-killing, you get Zulu to do the dirty deed for you! :-)

Dear crazy cat lady,
isn't it gross how pets always have to schmeer themselves with the odor of dead animal???

It should be encouraging that Zulu didn't revert to a primitive savage felid carnivore and started ripping off of the beautiful plummage of this ex-thrush/
deceased/gone-to-meet-its-maker/ceased-to-be/it is no more suicidal thrush.

Are you going to be one of those really interesting cat ladies now? Are you wearing black sweats and a black sweater covered in cat fur?

I quite like the video- she looks amused, but not obsessed. Notice how she rolls over and grooms herself, quite casually, then comes back to the bird as if to say; "Oh yeah-- I totally know that YOU ARE DEAD. And I am cat. Hear me ROAR!
