rain

rain mosaic

Something a little different for Illustration Friday: I took nine different paintings that have rain or rain-like images, cropped a section from each and photoshopped it, then made this mosaic.

In today's Painter's Keys clickback I liked this quote from a response letter by Clint Watson:

Collectors often possess this sentiment: "If it looks just like reality, I'll just take a photograph." For many buyers, the artist's personal artistic style is the "art" in the artwork. Without the style, it's just "work."

This looks great! You know, mosaic images like this make wonderful prints...(hint)

I have been getting the Robert Genn newletters, and that one about personal style really resonated with me. In fact, it was that newsletter in addition to things I have had on my mind lately, that made me really want to make the push to attempt some large paintings in a similar style to my drawings. We'll see!

so true and this is a great montage of your paintings. I think you get a lot of rain? That is why it would be included in your beautiful work.

Definitely better viewed in the "big" size!
Oddly, after savoring the colors, I liked the sense of wax resist(?) and the irony that water falling/receding was apparently part of the process as well as the content.
