farm

You will almost never see a watercolour painting by me -- I find the medium really challenging. I did this painting a couple of years before I picked up the brush again with any sort of purpose. It was a one-off donation to a fundraiser for an Australian Shepherd rescue group. Aussies are sheepdogs, and the setting is a farm, so there you go: another Illustration Friday in the can.

You surprise me, this reveals another side to you. I think fur is hard to do and you have done it so well.

this has a soft and beautiful feel to it yet it has your stamp on it for sure! I share your feelings about watercolour but I make a secret promise to delve into it when I get some free time, haha, but your painting gives me hope! Beautiful and I love the subject!!!

That's lovely! If you enjoyed working that way I would think children's books would be a great field for you, but I understand about not loving watercolor. I worked only in watercolor for 6 or 7 years before I finally tried oils and OH! There's no going back!

Without expertise but the most uneducated of artful eyes, I say only this is gorgeous, beautiful.

And love that Winnipeg group Crash Test Dummies!! How can you beat that low, original voice?

What fun listening to one of my favorite Crash Test Dummy songs while looking at your art. I was suprised by it at first, couldn't figure out where it was coming from. This watercolor is really beautiful--I like everything about it. You did a wonderful job with the grasses and little flowers, the fur and the interesting texture of the background. It's true it's challenging, but you seem to have it mastered!

This really does have such a different feeling from pretty much everything else I've seen...a totally different styke. Even though you're not fond of watercolor painting, you certainly do it weel. I love how you've rendered the fur and the grass...everything seems so fine and light, and I can almost feel the breeze. Lovely, Andrea:>

Thanks for the positive feedback. I hesitated to post it because it's from a different era, an era when I was anything but an 'artist' and I can feel that particular vibe when I look at it -- only because I remember my headspace when I painted it.

Many fine things have come out of Winnipeg, the Crash Test Dummies included!

Fantastic watercolor. You may find watercolor a challenge but you certainly are not lacking in your skill of laying it down. Beautiful rendering of the aussie. I could look at this one for hours.

Well i got caught up reading your blog and came back here to comment.
You surprise me and i find it amazing the mediums you have tried. This is beautiful. you have captured the subject matter well. Now i am just the opposite and find watercolor easy and acrylics hard.
