individualist

individualist

I'm back in west coast landscape mode -- a kind of signature of the region, if not me. This is small (10" x 10") but it's also 1.5" deep and painted around the edges. Painting in this style teaches me a lot and even if I don't like the results as much as my other work, it's excellent discipline and sharpens me up between series.

This is a beauty, Andrea. I like the idea of stretching out in familiar territory between series.

It's getting very near my bedtime, so I will make a quick post. I'm gald you're working in this style as well because you do bring so much of your sense of pattern and shape to these more traditional compositions. The rocks look almost alive, and the touches of red throughout add a real sense of primal energy. Does that sound weird? It just looks like one of those rugged spots that doesn't belong to people...it's very powerful to me.

P.S. would you mind if I emailed you with a technical question?

Thanks for the input. I sometimes feel a bit like a pretender when I do this kind of work. Carla: you will find my email address on the contact page of my website.

That one really speaks to me - I can feel the quiet life-energy of the place (wish I was there!)
Thanks - it's a great one to return to for a moment of sanity in sometimes insane days.
