canadian blog awards

I’m back on-line – sort of. Yesterday’s massive storm on the coast of British Columbia meant that we lost power (along with 200,000 other people) for about 10 hours. I spent a lot of time reassuring a shaking, panting dog that he wasn’t going to die as we listened to the 100 km/hr winds and 100 mm of rain pounding down. The area where I grew up was hardest hit, with houses being evacuated due to falling trees (and the trees here are big!), and parts of the Fraser Valley suffered flooding, so a few hours without power in this burg means we got off easy.

Unfortunately my internet connection is very shaky (probably nothing to do with the storm as it’s been a chronic problem) which means that since we got power back I’ve only gotten a few emails (and the ones I’ve gotten I’ve gotten over and over and over again), haven't been able to visit blogs as I keep losing connection, and I’m taking the risk of losing this post, but I have something VERY IMPORTANT to say. OK, marginally interesting maybe…

Canadian Blog Awards

The Canadian Blog Awards are open for business. Some kind, misguided soul nominated me in two categories (art/photo and overall) but hasn’t revealed him/herself to me (and if you don’t tell me your identity I’ll hunt you down like a dog in the road…). Please visit and vote for the blogs I nominated: Snippets from Spaceship Orion, I Wonder, Tales of Blunderview and Hilda Rose’s Sketchbook. Also nominated (but I wasn’t fast enough) are some blogs I enjoy regularly: Homo Escapeons and Cyclone Cece. Forgive me if I've fogotten any. Voting closes November 21st (note change from earlier). Vote early, vote often.

Can I vote even if I am not Canadian? I would like to vote if it is open to everyone.

O.K. it was me who nominated you...now just makes the hounds go away. I thought to ask first and then I just went ahead and did it anyway...like you'd say NO?!!!
I love you, Andrea. :)

Sally: Fortunately it wasn't very cold -- just cold enough that putting on the gas fireplace was enough to stay comfy.

Cherrypie: Your next mission is to vote EVERY DAY. OK -- I guess I shouldn't push it.

MRShoes: Did you ever make it or did you get distracted by something on the way and totally forget? :)

Swampgrrl: Yes but did you vote? :)

Ces: As far as I know this is an equal opportunity election. Besides, after you took the Canadian test you definitely count as Canadian now!

Brian: YOU! Funny, I asked Kyknoord if he was the culprit since he nominated me for the BOBs last year and he said no -- he figured it was you. I said I didn't think so because when I asked you if I could nominate you you never said a word. You sneak. Next time I'm not asking either! (And are you implying that I have a big ego -- !!! :) Love you, too, Brian.

Now I'll hold my breath while I attempt to post this...

Not sure I've read enough blogs to vote, but I just took the Canadian test and came out on 11/20.Reasonable, I thought, for a Kiwi who has only spent 3 (fantastic) weeks in B.C. 10 years ago...
Like your work and hope you're out of the Dog House!

You can only vote once per work station/IP address. So I was able to vote twice from work and from home. Now I just need to vote from my laptop. Maybe I should go around my co-worker's offices and vote from their work stations tomorrow!

As much as I wish it were me that nominated you, it's not.

However, I've voted of course!!!

Did as you asked. I wouldn't want to incur your wrath and risk being hunted down like a dog. :)

Okay I was able to vote again from the same IP address, so I don't know what the deal was yesterday. I hope you win, but like Cherry Pie, it is going to be hard because I like you very much and WW. So I hope you one a prize in different divisions!

"So I hope you one a prize in different divisions!"

I have no idea how this semantic error took place. You know what I mean. :-)

Brian is such a nice guy, he nominated me too.
I get to vote for you wholesale and guilt free.
It will be tougher to decide in some of the categories.
If we were any kind of politicians we would have got together and decided who wins what and voted accordingly!
Live and learn.
I have a feeling that demographics favour the younger crowd since they literally live online...
either way I agree with Brian that you are totally deserving...
and I am gonna tell Joyce that he said "I Love You, Andrea :)" unless you vote for me atleast every second day!
Not bad eh? I should be lobbyist!

Dinahmow: I'm getting kinda comfortable in the dog house, actually...

Ces: You're a gem and that reminds me that I need to go and vote again!

Krista: And while I'm there I'll vote for you. I was pleased to see your name there last time I visited!

Ces: I got it! (And it looked like something I'd do...)

Carla, Kyk, Caro, Nomad, Gautami, Susan, Val: Well done. Now do it again. :)

Chitty: I've been told you enjoy the chase...

HE: What! I'll vote for you EVERY day. Seriously, though, I love the politician idea. No wonder they have such trouble with basic thinking when policy and party lines make it unnecessary.

Don't go to sleep in the Doghouse...we could use your talents on Blogworld Road. My tin shed (house) could do with painting and I rather fancy a Hundertwasser/A.P. facade.
