off to fiji

My poor small art blog is withering away on the virtual vine. I've been neglecting it something fierce, but there are only so many hours in the day. Certainly by January I should be able to give my little paintings more time.

Meantime I had to check to see if I'm a good Canadian. I had a terrible start, apparently only knowing that Albertans are more likely to support the death penalty, then go fishing with a case of beer. In the end I got 13/20. I should be shipped out. I wonder if there's any room for refugees in Fiji right now..?

Later: I was able to do the quiz earlier without being a Globe & Mail subscriber but now it demands that I register. Go figure. It's worthwhile (a) if you're Canadian (and who else would bother?) and (b) keeps you from reading The National Post.

Do post when you get to your small art again. I'm still watching for 'mine'. :-)

I got 10/20 without knowing what I was doing at all... my knowledge of Canada really isn't up to scratch but luckily with multiple choice you don't have to know the names of anything... I doubt I'd do any better if it was a UK based quiz...

Sometimes the only thing I know about Canadians is that they don't really like America but they fly in every Monday and then out on Thursday for their consulting, analyst and programming jobs in our corporate office. We seldom talk about lifestyles, culture and politics. We don't comment on their politics and health care because we don't vote in Canada. Instead we exchange photographs and stories of our families. It's a safer discussion topic. My favorite consultant and architect is a Canadian nurse and I know so much about her family but never about her Canadian political or sociocultural views.

Belinda: At this rate you will end up being more Canadian than me!

Tara: Any hints?

Kyk: If I'm going then I'm taking you down -- er -- there -- with me.

Caroline: Try again. I did better the second time. :)

Ces: What are you saying? That we hate your culture but have no trouble taking your bucks? :)

Oh darn! I do not like where this is going. Is that what you thought I said? I am sorry then? I was relating my personal experience with the very few Canadians I met personally. Probably not the best samples. I worked with several consultants and one consultant was a guest at my office for 6 months and everyday faithfully reminded me that my conservative ideology needed to be corrected. I would personally not tell a citizen of another country to change her views to match mine. I did not mean my comment to offend anyone, but if someone finds it so, then I am sorry.

Ces: Sorry -- it was mean of me to tease you like that. I didn't think that was what you meant, I was just being a smart-arse -- as usual! :)

Ooooh! I am just so glad you are not mad at me. I would be devastated. This blogging really sometimes is hard to decipher. We cannot hear each other's tone of voice and see our facial expressions. Mainly I just need to stop being so serious. Thank you for being so kind and gracious.

To be honest, I don't know a lot about Canada, myself, though I think it's one of the most beautiful places on earth! I love Vancouver...and could easily relocate there, which I considered after the 2000 elections here in the US! The only other place I've visited is Toronto. I could kick myself for not visiting Eastern Canada when I lived in Maine.

Ces: This is a good reminder to me that I can't be kidding around too much without all that other communication stuff (facial expresion, tione of voice, etc.).

Cynthia: Careful about what you say. You'll get all those jealous people from Winnipeg (not naming names but his initials are WW) on our case again for all the rain we sometimes get.

Melba: Thanks!

andrea and ces: ouch! this exchange is pretty funny. this is my clinical opinion:

1. i think ces is more serious with andrea because she has such high esteem for her work

2. andrea cannot quit kidding around because kj would miss her witty humor

3. ces can hold her own in any situation, be it humor, commentary, or art.

personally, i'm glad you two have found eachother. i'm eager for more....

(i kinda love you both, if that's ok to say in blogland.....)

KJ: I forgot to add that I needed to hear stamps of approval today, so thanks for the virtual hug. I just had one of those days and am now off to the hospital to deal with the worst of it. I have to wait for my husband to return with the van, though, because my vehicle is kaput. Off to get some Tylenol now...

Hi, you asked me about making mosaics in flickr? After going here: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php
you there is a drop down menu that says "choose a layout" You can try a bunch out, but the one you asked about is called 1 + 3 right with shadow.

Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

I suck. Like I said before, I could never ever be accused of being fact-smart. (is there any other kind?) 6/20 is nothing to brag to one's virtual friends about.

Every time I come to post something witty and clever, computer eats my comment. I swear on a stack of Bibles, it does! Like that time I was going to congratulate you on your third place, and say how I have every confidence that next year you will be the first! Ha! So, how strange this is, just before I read you post and some comments I was looking at the work of artist from…Outer Hebrides, Steve Dilworth (http://stevedilworth.com/studio/index.htm -- check him out!). And on my last trip I have met two Fijians – lovely people! They have convinced me that life on Fiji may not be all that bad, he-he… So, when you are ready to move, let me know, I may tag along.

Ptss, I am not good Canadian ether! Shame…

Being a good sport, I took this test and I missed the heartbreak capital and another question, oh yes the Internet use - that's amazing fact about Canada. I got a score of 18. Not being Canadian, what does that mean? Hmn, that I know how to win a game in trivial Pursuit, especially in the Geography category!

KJ: :)

Cream: You big chicken!

I've been visiting various Artist sites asking people if they would like to submit a few images and/or words regarding their individual feelings about the idea of PEACE.

Then, I'll build a specific BLOG POST featuring your own thoughts and artwork. Additionally, I'll include a link back to your original site.

Thus far, it's been a slow process...

Take care...
