horace walpole

I love quotes. Here are a couple of pithy ones from here:

The whole secret of life is to be interested in one thing profoundly and in a thousand things well.

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.

~ Horace Walpole

Andrea - this reminds me of your landscapes - the colors and the light on the trees. Are you having lovely weather? I am hoping we have seen the last snow after this batch melts (fingers crossed).

And to those of us deluded enough to believe we both feel AND think, the world reduces to a madhouse :-)

Oh, wow! Great photo! We are experiencing our annual March snowfall, and it is nice to see that there is spring out there somewhere. Agree with Carla – photo landscape is very like your lovely painted landscapes. And fantastic quote… The secret of life found. Lily.

The photo brings to mind this:

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when at first we practice to deceive"

which always makes me think more of how a painter translates many dimensions down to just 2 (or 2 and a bit for a bumpy picture!) rather than the more obvious interpretation about lying...

Must stop feeling, and instead focus on thinking.

Your art is really eye catching. I love your painting a few posts down... It is really cool to get to see it's progression the way you've shown it.

really looks like one of your paintings! great quotes! Last night Meryl Streep mentioned your blog on the Oscars! She said colouring outside the lines. I don't know if you watch the oscars but she was doing a bit with Lilly Tomlin and said those words. She must have been talking about you right?

Val: Meryl and I -- we're 'like this' -- so I'm not surprised she mentioned me. Did she thank me, too? Oh yeah -- she was only a presenter...

Friends: Excuse my lack of communicativeness. Back soon to look at my favourite blogs, comment, etc. Life not so good right now, so I'm laying low.

Wow - the colours, the composition, the textures. Astonishing is not the word, but it comes close.

It does seem like a composition of yours, especially the way the green shines through the tree branches. First time visiting your weblog and it's really refreshing. Thanks.

There seems to be a spate of lowness going round quite a number of the blogs I visit regularly - I hope it isn't catching!

More importantly, I hope you are feeling better.
