It's in Vancouver (maybe I should rename the post to make that clear). Vancouver is a city with many faces, including the poorest neighbourhood in all of Canada -- right beside and now flowing into Chinatown, which is a very old neighbourhood by western North American standards. Vancouver is known as Hollywood North for the fantastic variety of location shots it offers -- as you can see by these.
What a difference between the top photo and the middle one...full and empty. I really like the effect you''ve used here; it's kind of glassy-watercolor-ish. It also appears to change the colors so they look a bit like tints. It looks cool. Thanks for your Thanksgiving wishes:> Jol and I are spending the day alone with our wood stove, lots of music, some delicious vegetarian food, and a bottle of good wine...I can't really imagine anything that would be more perfect for me this year...we even got some snow to add to the atmosphere!
Like Carla, I noticed the stark contrast between the top and middle pictures. Full and empty is a good way to describe. The first one is so alive, and the second still and silent looking. Great pictures and technique.
All three of these photogrpahs are wonderful, Andrea. As always, you know how much I love to see the manipulations and treatments that you give to the work.

Andrea, whereabouts is this Chinatown? It looks bleak, doesn't it?
