This week's Illustration Friday contribution is a cheat, but I thought this photo was perfect for the theme. I've avoided the harpy-like beckoning of Photoshop for as long as humanly possible, but finally had a little fun with it today in order to make this photo into an illustration.
I took the photo of #2 son with our dog Zappa on a beach up the coast earlier this year.

Aha...this time I'm first...what fun! Well, harpy-like or not, the photoshop effect on the sand and rocks is outstanding, as is the effect on the sky and clouds. I love the composition of this as well, and the feeling of catching a moment. I also love the overcast wildness of the coast...looking at this transports me and I feel a shiver of exhilaration (and chill). It's lovely, Andrea:>
Nice posterized effect! I'd wax on, but Carla has already done it.
I am sure that the photo was very nice. So is the illo. Cool colours! Oups, did I say cool again? Arghhhhhhh!!!!
This is such a wonderful photo. You caught the moment alright. Cheers!
Great shot and effects from photoshop.
Running on the beach is so freeing.
they must have had fun
Reminds me of how free holidays can be :)
aaaah, this is wonderful andrea!
It certainly says "free" to me. It looks like it was a great day, and now it's immortalized here on illofri! Hope you don't go back to avoiding Photoshop.
I like the way the efects have distressed the image without distressing the concept!
something different from your usual style!! love the dog!!
Beaches in the winter! They convey old memories of laughter and warmth.
And freedom, since they are usually quite deserted!
I always enjoy seeing the treatments that you give your photographs, Andrea. Forgive me for not stopping in much lately...still sick at this end, it's all I can do to get my own work done everyday. Yes, I do owe you an email reply. Happy Columbus Day!
