heart's desire

Life contains but two tragedies. One is not to get your heart's desire;
the other is to get it.

Another beauty here, Andrea. Is it another drawing? Or from that new series of paintings? Anyway, I like this style very much...we need to talk.

Thanks for the votes of confidence, guys. This is another drawing, Mick. I'm making slow progress on the painting right now, though there is one on my easel that I'm "chipping away" at. I'm kind of floundering a bit right now, actually, but at least I'm working!

They just keep getting better; this one's my favourite so far. I agree with Mick - I really do like this style.

Question: If you're making slow progress with the painting, but beautiful drawings like this are falling off the end of your pen, what is it that's different in the process of creating them?

I also find this 'dark' style of yours very appealing.

At risk of irretrievably lowering the tone, I can't resist relating this sublime-to-ridiculous mutation of Socrates' words:

A group of us were standing in the queue for lunch at work, next to a cabinet containing huge mouth-wateringly tempting wedges of chocolate fudge cake.

"You look at that," said a colleague, "and think, 'Oh I've just got to have a slice'. But when you've eaten it you realise you didn't need it at all".

To which another colleague responded in a loud voice, bringing the attention of the entire queue upon him:

"Yes, it's bit like sex really, isn't it?"

Sorry... :-)

Well, thank God someone lowered the tone! Rudy seems to have left me high and dry in the humour department so I've been forced to be pedantic and serious lately.

As for the corruption of Socrates, well, we can all do without chocolate cake.... :)
