depth
This is my first try at an Illustration Friday contribution. I've been enjoying them in some of the blogs I visit for a couple of months, then yesterday this topic grabbed me (it relates to the paintings I'm working on) so I sat down to draw my vision of it today.

nice informative post .... keep it up...
have a great weekend....
I wish I could see this one up close! Just as with the aboriginal fish, the longer I look (especially at the highest res version on Flickr), the more I like. It takes time to soak in (maybe like the water percolating through the ground?), and I've only had five minutes so far.
Beautiful illustration! I like how you have worked with lights on dark. Lots to see :)
Oh Andrea...this is beautiful! I'm so glad you're sharing some drawing with us as well as your paintings. I love the technique of light on dark, and I love your patterns of lines and subtle changes of color. It's very interesting to see that your drawing style is similar to your painting style, which is not always the case. You have a very definite look to your work that says it's yours. And it's fun to see a picture of you drawing:>
Thanks all. It was fun to pick up a pencil...and a Sharpie...and a gel pen today. Interesting how linking to Illustration Friday makes my hit counter zoom up! And Carla, in the photo I was actually working on this particular drawing. My son was running around with the digital and I asked him to photograph me thinking I could post it with the drawing if all worked out.
Beautiful work !
Lovely work
It really fires the imagination.

love the line work and the colors, it's great.
This is indeed a beautiful drawing and it captures the theme perfectly. I like that you limited your color choices. It's amazing what one can do with very little.
This is gorgeous! I really like your artistic style.
A deep space beneath... somehow I'm expecting underground water, but there's that space, perfectly laid out against the surface textures - the sense of emptiness even against the sky, the roots above and below (there, that's the last two weeks of IF covered), and the layered history in the earth.
A wonderful debut! Welcome to Illustration Friday.
Nice use of light and dark. Good to see another canuk on the list.
IF - depth - I've just discovered that we both posted our first IF for the same topic... though I just found out about it and plunged in... maybe I should have done "out of my depth"....
