500

I made it!

So, I did the draw this morning, all by my lonesome, and I actually did use a hat: my favourite running/standing in the rain at soccer games/hiking, etc., hat. Greg picked it up as a freebie when he ran the 2004 Vancouver Marathon (it was a 2003 Seattle Marathon leftover) and it fit so perfectly that it has become one of those treasured items of clothing that are impossible to give up (for example). I thought I'd lost it when we went hiking at Thanksgiving and oh! The gnashing of teeth!
There were 38 entries from nine countries, but the draw post is nowhere near my most popular in almost 2 1/2 years of blogging. That honour is reserved for this post, the post that never dies. I wish I could take the credit, but it turns out that it comes up first whenever the words 'Andrea needs' are googled, hence its remarkable staying power. We're still shy of the elusive '100 comments by people named Andrea' goal, though. Spread the word to all your Andrea's.

OK, OK, the draw. I'm using classic narcissist strategy: pique their interest then string them along for as long as possible. (I learned it from a master.) The winner is A KITE RISES, an Irish lass with a lovely blog. (And for the really observant, she left two comments -- not deliberately -- but she still only got one entry.) This was fun and I will probably do it again in a few months. Ms Kite, please email (see profile) and I will give you a choice of prints.
And since we touched on it (we did?), if you ever visit my CafePress store and see something you like and would prefer one of the other images on it, just let me know and I can make a change easily enough. It's not like I give high priority to this shop; it's really just for fun. And the products are excellent quality. I just ordered another large mug because the first one was so great.
Here's to 500 more!

"...and the winner of the prize for being the first to say congratulations..."

Well done, Andrea.5oo may not seem a biggie to non-writers, but when you cruise through blogs there are many which don't have that same well-crafted sparkle. Consistently.

I'll be here for #1000!

A kite rises needs to send an enormous flower-bedecked crate of thanks to Didrooglie! May I also congratulate you most sincerely on your 500th post. I aspire to someday have such an inspiring, thoughtful, and beautiful blog as yours. Long may you colour outside the lines :) (e.mail is on the way) THANK YOU Andrea! "Go raibh mile maith agat", as we say over here in Ireland, roughly translated = "A thousand thank yous" or, more precisely translated (and I prefer this one :) "A thousand goodnesses upon you"

HUZZAH!

When you peruse the Blogosphere you do come across an inordinate number of vacated sites..((sigh))..
the vanquished who did not "keep on keepin' on" and gave up the ghost.

It IS quite an accomplishment and you should be proud because of the high quality and exacting standards that you have maintained.

Here is to another 500..1000...5000..How long would it take to do 5000???

Another vote for the goodness-that-is-your-blog. It is always a delight for the mind and eye to read. (I wish I wrote even fractionally as intelligently and smartly-humorously as you do. And could use adverbs in their real and actual forms)...

I hadn't read your 'quirky things' post before - that predated my blogging. (Love the middle name. I also have blonde! mascara-needing eyelashes, and am mocked for how quickly I speak). Fun to learn more about you.

HE: I do! Including my own. I changed the original URL on this blog early on (it was http://andreapratt.blogspot.com) because I had the totally misguided idea that I could keep it somewhat anonymous -- an idea I totally gave up on. Within a couple of days someone had grabbed that URL and set up a fake blog on it, no doubt thinking I might want to "buy it back." Same thing happened when I abandoned my http://small-art.blogspot.com blog and they even managed to hold onto my old banner! Thanks for the encouragement but 5000! My hair goes grey just thinking about it.

Tara: Now you've got me looking for adverbs in their real and actual forms! :) Thank you so much. Coming from you who only blogs when it's worth reading it's quite a compliment. As for the trivia about me I guess you missed the one where I have freakishly long legs making me 6' tall! (Better warn you now before you meet me... :)

Are you really 6 feet tall? You'll fit right in. Suzy is also a 6 foot tall, lean, blonde thing...

No worries, I am unintimidated by tallness (even though I have none of it).

I am ~ though men insist I'm taller than that and women insist I'm shorter. Fortunately I know that's more about them than it is about me!

Hey! I want a redraw!!!

Sincerely, Andrea, you have always had a completely unique blog, a combination of beauty and art and intelligence and insight that is unparallelled in my experience.

Congratulations to you and to A Kite Rises, the lucky lass. Now I'm waiting for that next draw...
