Pink Cottage ~ 6" x 6" x .75" ~ at Etsy
This year has been something of an annus horriblis for me and galleries. The unethical ones have taught me to really appreciate the good ones. One of the great things about the on-line art community is its ability to drive the predator from cover. I've mentioned Vancouver's Sergio Patrich before, but he's small potatoes compared with Seattle's Kurt Lidtke. It all makes me want to poke my eye out with a paintbrush.

Shocking. I imagine that it is hard enough to get to a point where you work up the courage to 'share your babies' but to then be forced to deal with a scheister dealer...brutal!
I think that you are on the right track. Personally I view this Internet thingamabob as the greatest invention since oven mitts. How is it possible that ordinary people (who are never ordinary) are allowed to interact and bypass all of the Estates that have been created to keep us in line for Millenia.
Instead of staying in-line now we are online and able to circumvent the control of all the Institutions that kept us in our place. Your genie is out of the bottle.
You Go Girlfriend MMM MM MM!
*awkwardly ((snaps finger sideways)) as one would expect from a middle aged white dude.
Etsy's looking better all the time! But not for the big stuff.I'd rather like to have the wherewithal to establish a gallery...
Have a bunch of artists ever gotten together and formed a sort of gallery co-op? Seems like a natural thing to do, but maybe not as easy as I'm making out.
And can I just say...I don't know what it is that you bring to color, but the pink? It's so vibrant and beautiful. It's a bit of a departure, and you own it.
Love the new work..."little pink houses for you and me!" (melencamp)
As far as the gallery stuff...ack!
That's all I've got...just ACK!
This pink cottage is lovely as is your eye.
HE: When I first posted this I forgot to include the following blog: http://galleryowe.blogspot.com/
Peter: I never thought I'd want to start a gallery but as time passes that looks like more and more like the promised land.
Belinda: There are lots of artist co-op galleries but artists don't usually have the funds to set up shop in high-rent commecial areas nor do they have the time to devote full-time to making it work. It's really hard to make a go of it as a gallery owner (hence the exploitation) even with all the money and time in the world.
HMBT: I couldn't get that song out of my head either -- which is why I didn't name it Little Pink House. :)
Zooms: Thank you!
Sheesh I hope next year is a whole different story for you.
It is hard to know who are the good one's and who aren't.
Love the house paintings.
Love this :-) Are you enjoying doing the houses again?
And PS. I haven't dropped the ball on the idea of commissioning one. Just A. Procrastinating, and B. Still not sure about size (finances) and where it will live.
It boggles the mind that this kind of gallery thievery goes on. One expects it in the big cold heartless business world, but in the art world? I ditto hmbt's ACK!
Jafabrit: Last year was good so maybe it only happens in alternating years!
Nadine: Yes -- I'm having fun! I needed a bit of an undemanding break and no rush -- I can work on your timetable!
Sweet painting! I really, really like the sky, and it looks so wonderful going over on the sides.
