illustration friday: grow

I'm a couple of days late for Illustration Friday. These are small (5") mixed media drawings on midnight blue cardstock.

These are great. I especially like the pen strokes against the background. I love both garlic and peppers. I am also late with the IF theme. I have been dragging.

Great texture. Did you use a rake brush on the background?

Jan: It's a drawing actually -- the background of the top one is done with a gold-coloured marker and the bottom one with a white pencil crayon.

The cross hatching adds a great deal of texture. Me like.

I'm glad you are trying out other background colors! I think it can only expand the possibilities of this style. (I especially like the chunky garlic).

i see a food theme evolving. what's next: how about ben and jerry's cherry garcia ice cream? or my personal favorite, whoopie pies?

it's always delightful to see what you come up with next, andrea.

You'd throw the peppers after me if you'd know what I was "seeing'" there at first glance.
Should I know what they are riding on? (Have I told you that I am not an art critic????)
I love the garlic, each and every detail.

I like the dark blue paper! These two drawings have amazing texture... almost like a hooked rug! Hmmm.. I'm hungry!

Mixed media? What exactly did you use?

(Come on ... spill the beans ... and the peppers ... and the garlic!)
