farm kids

I neglected to add this photo yesterday, but it's such a great one that it needs its own post. I don't know these kids, they are my husband's cousins, but I was so struck by how unlike this one is from the standard, posed "cute kids" shots that I actually find that I look at it regularly. I'm not sure why it attracts me so much; maybe because it's an almost entirely unselfconscious glimpse of a moment in time.

The kid using the window as a teething ring caught my attention :)

I love this photo! It's very "natural"!

Yes, the naturalness of this is decidedly perfect. I wonder if those variety acts (who ate glass, nuts & bolts and suchlike) that used to be on the likes of The Ed Sullivan Show, etc. strated the way this little tike did? Great shot!

You know what struck me just now -- it's the fact that though the little girls are together, each one appears to be in an entirely separate world. I think that's what makes it so intriguing for me. What's going on in each of those very distinct little minds?
