the dog days of summer

I have been waiting for this all year. Summer is far too short. Some of today's pleasures:

• eating cereal with fresh blueberries on the back porch at 7:30 a.m.
• tanks top, flip flops and a ceiling fan
• watermelon
• hanging out at the pool with a page-turner (Dick Francis again) while the kids have a swimming lesson
• digging in the garden
• BBQ and cold beer (hopefully)
• long walk at dusk (also hopefully)
