design blog wannabe strikes again
Today I'm a design blog and our discussion topic is lighting design, so switch on your (God help us) Martha Stewart Everyday Classic (I bet she doesn't have purple carpets in her house) and check these out, courtesy of my decorating guru:
looking like an I.V. stand (because, you know, reminders of the hospital are so relaxing)
looking like a pile of books (beats actually reading)
looking like a carton of milk (good if you're lactose intolerant)
looking like a skull with a plant growing out of it (because..?)
And, in this bunch, there's a brain lamp, a spine lamp and a face lamp. Hard to say which is creepier.

but now, that light swing.... kinda' looks like fun. think it comes in colors?
seriously, what is it about lighting fixtures that inspires people to idiocy and ugliness?
For some reason, I would really like a neon sign light. The milk carton one is kind of cool. Hmmm, makes me want to get a bowl of Cheerios.

Brain lamp!!!! funny but ugly. What an idea:) The brain looks like a sponge, I guess you found a good word, creepy:)

If you had the milk carton light, you could leave it on with a few dirty dishes around, and the light would justify the mess. Perfect for me.
Now if there were something in between boring light fixtures, and weird light fixtures....oh no, I just realized I have a couple that verge on hideous light fixtures.
Hayden: So true but you know, I like almost all of these (maybe not the brain lamp...) more than that hideous Martha Stewart lamp, but that's just me.
Jan: I love neon ~ even a neon beer sign looks good to me.
Andrea: There are a lot of medical-themed lamps among these, aren't there? Better for hospitals than those terrible fluorescent lights, don'tcha think?
Caroline: Ha! You clevah girl, you've trumped me. I have no response.
Molly: And you know what, I think hideous light fixtures are also probably better than the Martha Stewart 'Everyday' lamp. More interesting anyway, no doubt.
In general I like my lamps to lok like lamps. But some of them would be cool in a kid's room. ANd I love the tree light!

Those face lamps are awesome, the brain, DNA..ooh nerd heaven...but the milk carton looks like you've left the milk out to spoil..too messy.
The book stack looks messy too but atleast you could hide your jewelry in those drawers..the teenage crackheads rifling through your house prolly wouldn't look in there.

I would say image No. 2 is my brain, but I don't think it's nearly that big.

I look at those fixtures and realize I am maybe more conventional than I thought I was.
wow, some are very strange, and well since I am into trees lately i LOVE the light trees, oh and the face wall lamp.
