and on sunday we rest
Just a few images from yesterday's casual afternoon opening. I took a few photos of the gallery before the reception but when people started arriving (after I'd gotten over the "no one's coming!" moment of panic) I completely forgot about the camera. Luckily Greg remembered during a bit of a lull but was soon called back to duty, so we only have three 'crowd shots.'
OK, I admit this photo was posed:

And this one proves that Greg does have a face:
I had a lot of fun and the time just flew by. Thanks to those who came and celebrated with us, like Kaya and Kevin, and to those who couldn't (something about it being 2200 km from Winnipeg to Vancouver...) but surprised me with a lovely gift of flowers. You guys are the best!

Yes, have a good show, Andrea!
I do love seeing a series all hanging together :-) I'm curious, when you see it all hanging in a gallery istead of at home in your studio; all the hours and effort and work (and hopefully some fun and creative discovery too), does it still feel like yours, or does it become something else?
Congratulations, Andrea! And if it wasn't for those, oh, 6,000 miles or so, I definitely would have attended.
Andrea, your work looks just STUNNING on the walls. I am with alda, if I didn't live so far away I would have loved to have been at your reception.
Michele: Thank you!
Nadine: In a funny way it's no longer mine the minute I've finished painting it. I'm proud of it (most of the time...) but I have no emotional attachment, so in my studio or in the gallery, it makes no nevermind. However, I really did want to see it hanging togetehr so held off until I had a venue to do that.
Alda: Thanks and yeah -- instant travel has a lot of catching up to do with instant communication.
Jafabrit: And it would've been so much fun to have you guys here!
Congratulations on your opening and show! I wish I could have dropped by too! You look fabulous and so do your paintings grouped together. I wish you much success.
I also wanted to add that your paintings are much larger than I thought - the internet does distort things quite a bit making things seem different than in real life.
Cynthia: I'm beginning to think that for the large ones I need to photograph them with something to get the scale. It's so true about the way we view them on-line: the 16" ones could be the same size as the 48" ones!
Very good exhibition... hurts that I have left far... if not visitaria it...
Best wishes from Buenos Aires...

I don't care if the photo is posed, it's cute anyway.
Glad about the show, and if I hadn't had this pesky vacation to deal with, I would have loved to have been there.
Looks wonderful I only wish there were not so many mile between Kentucky and Canada!!!
Congratulations, Andrea! You paintings look great on those walls:>

looks just great, andrea. i hope it was fabulous!
They look wonderful and so do you.
The book I am reading now says paint what is in your heart and not what you think people will buy.
Hope you are feeling better now.
Thanks all. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride.
Fantastic, Andrea!
To see things coming together must fill you with pride.
Congrats Andrea ! If I lived closer I would have been there...probably with no money, but there none the less.
hang on a minute I'm still walking!
Looks fab!
Congratulations, Andrea!
(I sneeked my camera into that church you once asked me about. I still have those plants somewhere.
