it was 20 years ago today ... um ... yesterday
It was hot yesterday, 37C, even hotter than it was on July 11th of 1987 when Greg and I got married. I was so glad we had a ceiling fan in the bedroom when it didn't dip into the 20s until the wee hours of the morning. As for our anniversary, we spent last weekend in Harrison Hot Springs at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa with all the other old farts. The bad news is that I have been ill for three weeks, very unusual for me, so we spent all our time lolling in pools, reading, eating and sleeping. Quite a contrast from our last anniversary there (we go every five years) when we went for a long run along the lakefront (Greg was training for a full marathon and me for a half) and played two games of golf! Turns out I have more than just a virus so stocked up on antibiotics when I finally went to the doctor yesterday. (No, it's not an STD!)
Needless to say I've managed to do nothing more energetic than the essentials around here for ages, so haven't been visiting blogs much let alone posting. I'll be back as soon as the drugs kick in. Meantime, here are a few photos from the weekend:
Saturday afternoon was spent in Fort Langley and we also visited the Fort Wine Company. While in Langley we found this great hat shop. Apparently I had just sucked a lemon ~ but I actually did like the hat!
Greg found a great hat from South Africa with webbed sides -- very cool in the hot sun. Here he is sporting it on a pier at Harrison Lake.
This photo of the hotel and resort was taken up the lake a bit at the source of the hot springs. It was originally built in the 1880s, burnt down in 1920 and was rebuilt in 1926. There were additions in the '60s and '80s. In this photo the old hotel is hidden between the two additions.

Happy Anniversary. The resort looks just so beautiful. Sorry you have been unwell :) hope you feel better soon.
Happy Day, Andrea and Greg!
I hope you feel better soon.
I had a look at your slideshow on Flikr...great shots, and what a lovely place. You guys look great, too.
My anniversary is in five days...remember what I got Joyce? I can't wait.
Happy Anniversary and I hope you feel better!
It looks like you had a wonderful trip! Gorgeous part of the world too...
And even if you're a little under the weather, you don't seem to have lost your sense of humor -std- teehee.
Oh I do hope the anti-biotics work - horrible feeling ill. Well done on the 20 years! I was married for 20 years once. Perhaps I will again!? I shall have to try or I will never get a decent anniversary present.
A very happy anniversary to you both. Twenty years is quite an attainment. And, so sorry you've been unwell. Hope Harrison did the trick for you.
Cheers,
Ian
Happy Anniversary!
Sorry you're still sick, and hope you get better soon.
Jafabrit: Thanks -- and I'm a lousy patient, too.
Brian: Ah, yes! Happy Anniversary to you two, too! (Glad you're still lurking about now and then.)
Cynthia: There have been one or two humourless moments around here lately... :)
Ziggi: Now I feel ripped off. Does that mean I have to get to 40 years to get my decent anniversary present..?
Ian: The good part was that I really didn't have to DO anything while there, but I felt like I was wasting it feeling crappy. And thanks.
Redeemer: I have a weapon now, so I should be back to my normal self in no time.
looks amazing ;o]
Sorry to hear you have been feeling so crappy. And in 37 degree temps to boot. Ugh. Your anniversary spot looks WONDERFUL! Perhaps you can wrangle a "do-over" since you didn't really get to enjoy it this time ... :-) !
Welcome back! And when the medication has done its thing you can plan where to wear the ruby due to you for your 40th!
Happy Anniversary to you & Greg! The photos are splendid...what a really beautiful place to spend a weekend:> The mountains in the distance are so impressive - we just don't have anything quite as large here in New England. It's a shame you weren't feeling well. I hope the antibiotics set you right. It isn't much fun being sick, and especially in the summer. So..get well soon!!!!!
p.s. - Jol & I are taking a short vacation to New Hampshire and Vermont next week, and one of our stops will been the Artsream Gallery... I can't wait to see your paintings in person! I've only seen the one I have and the one kj has - both wonderful, but I am excited to see some of your larger work!!!!
Happy anniversary! And oh! the scenery. It's so beautiful there. BC is one place I really REALLY want to revisit (I haven't been since I was around ten).
Great to see a picture of you, as well. :)
Ha! All the other "old farts?" Neither of you look at all like that, and congrats on your 20th.
Sorry to hear you're sick, Andrea, although you don't look it at all. And did you buy the hat?
That looks like a gorgeous place you went to to celebrate, and just relaxing is fine for a couple of "old farts."
Cheers
Inspired: Yes, it's quite a stunning spot.
Nadine: Excellent idea. Maybe we should go every year?
Dinah: I'll forward your comment to Greg...
Carla: We get a bit blase about the mountains here but I sure appreciate them when I return after having been away awhile. And take lots of photos in NH! Wish I could be there, too.
Alda: Re. photo: look at others! I looked (and felt) quite grey in this one, lemon-pucker and all.
WW: Are you saying I need to grow old gracefully rather than the way I want to (kicking and screaming)? :) We were practically the youngest couple in The Copper Room on Saturday night -- where they actually announce anniversaries. I want to make 60 years just so we can be the last one announced instead of one of the first! :) Old farts indeed.
WW: And I didn't buy the hat. Much as I loved it I figured I could use the $50 for, oh, wrinkle cream!
Great Anniversary post!
Beautiful photos. I agree with Caro. Greg looks like a film director in his folding chair.
Happy Anniversary. (We had our 20th this last December. It's quite an accomplishment, don't you think? :-)
Hope you are feeling better.
What a dear sweet post. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary. The hat looks good on you. What a lovely place, almost heaven or maybe it was heaven.
Happy anniversary! Great photos! Looks like a lovely place.
By the way, I got my copy of Cahoots and it looks GREAT! Congrats again!
Cream: He *is* the director -- no question!
Tara: I feel like it's an accomplishemnt, too. We'll talk again in 20 years, OK?
Ces: Thanks Ces and no -- that would mean we're dead! :)
Heather: I got mine, too. It was quite exciting to flip through and see my art scattered about.
Happy Anniversary : ) How wonderful and lovely of a place ... and you are so freaking cute !!!
it is freaky hot here too ... stay cool ;-)
In spite of you being under the weather, which is a shame, it looks a good anniversary trip. Congratulations!
Wrinkle cream? Ha! I don't think so, unless you need it for your "artist's hands."
:-)
Happy anniversary!
"I'll be back as soon as the drugs kick in"
Oh, andrea, you crack me up even when you are sick! *rofl*
I sure hope the drugs acted the way they were supposed to and did their little miracle and you are up to your usual self by now.
This place looks just great for an anniversary, no better ´place than being near water if the weather's so hot!
We were supposed to marry on July the 13th (also my parent's wedding day, by coincidence, only years earlier, of course), but then I got into a fighting mood (great for not-yet marrieds *g*), and my not yet-husband-then had to go and have everything postponed, who, optimist that he's, moved the day only one week up. :-)
WOW! In this day and age Twenty Years is a real accomplishment. The two of you are very fortunate to have found each other.
I hope that the anibiotics kick in..being sick for more than a few days is so annoying!
I loved the photos. This angle makes it look as if the Hotel Lobby will be swamped if a little boat putters by...must have a great view.
Congrats Andrea, get better.
Congrats on your 20th! Lovely photographs ... looks idyllic.
