from the vaults of time

Here's a departure: a postage stamp design in gouache on illustration board. How old is this thing? Almost 20 years? I discovered it while cleaning out the storage room. I believe it was a demo piece for a high school class I taught at a time when I was often mistaken for one of the students, but I'm not sure. I really can't remember when Canadian stamps cost just 32 cents. Anyone?

When I first arrived to the UK, I remember a friend of mine asking for a 19p stamp and then asking: "How much?"

I love the red you've used for Leon.

I can't remember the cost of stamps in the UK back in 1987 ... may have been around 12p for a first class one. I've spent some time on Google searching for this info, but have given up.
I've been clearing some boxes with a lot of old clutter in them, going back 40-50 years. A trip down memory lane - some good memories and some bad ones that I'd rather forget.

Can't swear to the accuracy, but...I do remember getting cards/letters from Canada when I was in UK,early '70s and the postage was around 20c.Maybe 25c? Of course, there would have been multiple stamps on an air letter...

Come back, Roland Hill!

32 cents stamps for domestic letters in the USA doesn't so long ago, and then, what do I know? I was born yesterday.

(Like that slightly cobwebbed look of yours, Andrea, that colour becomes you! *grin&run*)

love this stamp! I was going to say...it wasn't long ago that stamps in the US were only 32 cents.

I have no idea how much they cost anymore though. I haven't sent anything snail mail in years. My bank pays the one bill I do have.

I think they should institute a ban on boring flag and portrait stamps, and stick with art. We could all be collectors on the cheap.
Love this design :-)
