spring cleaning
I'm not a big fan of shopping but there are certain places that I always have a hard time leaving without adding just one more thing. One of those is Staples. I love stationery stores! Today, while getting letter stencils, I bought a hanging folder file and a couple of gelpens and ... which generated a re-org of my little office corner.
While I was gone, Etsy added a great little widget feature for sidebars called the Etsy Mini, which caused me to reorganise that, too and remove a few superfluous links.
And speaking of space organisation, check out glumbert.com - the folding chair and the origami car.

what a sweet sweet corner of the world, andrea. i love staples too, right after bookstores and then stationary stores. then staples. i love buying paper the most.
i love seeing your space....
There's a fantastic bookstore in Uwajimaya (the Japanese grocery/super store in downtown Seattle) that has wonderful Japanese office supplies and notebooks that I have no real need for but lust after (an often buy) anyway. And they sell Japanese decorative rice papers which I am completely addicted to.
Your space looks so nice and tidy. If it's anything like mine, that only lasts for a few minutes after a cleaning spree and then it's back to utter chaos.
way to clean up, grrl! i too have a problem going into staples and NOT coming out with bags-o-stuff that i probably can do without.
love the new sidebar. blue door!! be still my heart....
That Etsy widget is exceedingly cool indeed.
Great job, Andrea!
In DC we had two great places for the organizing-challenged, Williams-Sonoma's "Hold Everything" and the "Container Store". I had to walk buy them real fast, they're so dangerously seductive. ;-)
Etsy widget, oh dear, that's unknown territory for me. Maybe I better not tread there?
I am hooked on Staples. There is one just across the road and I can see it from my office window.
It is lethal when you have business account with them.
Nice and airy office corner and I like your feline sentinel.
I need organization in my life - I would be so mind boggled without it.Your space is great ! That mini chair is amazing, like a childs folding book almost and slinky combined.P.S/ I got a glimpse of your "Pussy Willows" original, great piece !
Wow - your space looks great and I too love Staples and its like... indeed I'm planning a trip there soon...
Oh yeay, the joy of buying new supplies ... I LOVE any kind of office/art store. Your space looks really nice and airy.
BTW, I tried checking out your Etsy Shop link and got an error ... might just be offline for a few minutes, but thought I'd let you know.
Hey Andrea! Just the person I wanted to talk to!!! I'm having a terrible time knowing how to reproduce my pictures for my blog. The quality of your images is AMAZING!!! How do you do it? Have you posted about it before? The recent discussion on your blog about digital printing was so helpful I'm hoping I can get some pointers about photographing the pictures and artefacts I produce.
I love these behind the scenes peeks! Do I see a Robert Genn above your desk, and the infamous quiller wheel below? I love the books shelves... how I wish I had more space for all my books! And the cat! Lovely, lovely!
I'm surprised by your office space. Your paintings are so rich in saturated colour, I envisioned your home looking the same... all red walls and royal blue carpets and amber curtains. Well, ok, I exaggerate. But truly, I love your work space. It is light and natural and inviting. Must be just the right atmosphere to allow all those amazing images to form in your head.
KJ: It's but a basement but it's still my basement! :)
Angela: What do you do with decorative papers? I love to look at and touch them, but never know what I'd do with them.
Swampgrrl: I don't think there's a single unnecessary left in this corner -- except maybe me...
Kyk: I just can't decide between this one and the smaller version so I put the smaller one on my Small Art blog. So appropriate.
Merisi: Come on in! (said the spider to the fly...)
Cream: Oh man, am I ever glad it's NOT just across the street from me!
Sheri: I like that one, too, which is often what happens with the ones that seem to fly off my pen.
Caroline: Pick me up at 10:00. :)
Bibi: They're having a few growing pains. Yesterday was the first day.
Peter: Hmm-- but can I make it an INTERESTING post? Probably not, so I'll email you.
Carla: Right on both counts (you're good!). The cat is necessary -- her pawprint of approval is all too frequent.
Nadine: As it's *just the basement* :) it gets no decorating treatment of any kind. Look at yesterday's post for more colour (the kitchen). And thanks!
Well, your basement is cleaner than my living room! I love stationery stores because I am crazy about paper and anything that writes or draws - pens, pencils, colored sticks whatever they are. I have never been to Staples. I wish they still have the old fashioned stationery stores where one can buy elegant writing paper and beautiful pens - but I guess nobody writes anymore, they just email.
Thank you for your wonderful comment on my latest post!
What a neat peek into your studio.
I love seeing where people work.
If I took a pic now of mine it would be awful cuz things are everywhere.
I use the Japanese papers for books and collage.
is that an astrological chart on the wall?
(I can't resist asking, because I am a professional astrologer!) Your studio is charming.
