cut it out!

The weather gods are still punishing us for our smug west coast attitudes. But jeepers creepers, O Lords of Karma -- it's been six weeks of this! Cut us some slack, will ya?

During last night's storm winds gusted as high as 157 km/h in some areas. I'm also concerned about my friends in Seattle and Portland as they were hit equally hard. Check out the story here, introduced by CBC's yummy Ian Handsome-man-thing ... er ... Hanomansing.

Saturday update: They replaced the news clip featuring Mr. Handsome-man-thing with that boring Chris Brown. How dare they?

Dontcha just love saying his name aloud - Ian Hanomansing - it's very nearly musical. Of course, from now on I will think of him as Ian Handsome-man-thing!

Shoo-wee! That's some wild weather you folk are having. I wish I could arrange a swap of some of your wet stuff for the poor sods in Victoria/NSW?Tasmania. On news just now, several fire fighters injured, one air-lifted to Melbourne.
Umm..not a complete swap, of course, just enough water to douse the flames and some warm sunshine for you.
Hope you and yours are all OK?

Oh you women are so shallow. All you care about is physical attributes...

Not hard to laugh at Handsome-Man-Thing though...your invention?

I'm surprised we haven't seen any small art on bad weather from you...

Barbara and WW: I wish I could claim it was my invention -- I just about died the first time I heard it. SO appropriate.

Dinahmow: A swap would go down well right now, wouldn't it? Except we get wildfires here in summer, too. You'll have to work on that rainforest thing Down Under before next July, OK? Fair is fair. :)

Hope the weather calms down soon Andrea. Down south we had to turn on the airconditioning today because it was 80 degrees outside and humid inside the house. The men are wearing shorts and the kids are perspiring while running around. In the meantime, I am just comfortable with a jean jacket. I am barbecuing pork ribs and cheeseburgers on the deck.

Crazy weather you're having! Here, where it should be freezing cold, we're having lovely mild weather. I dunno...I guess everything's all messed up with global warming or something. I'm sure it won't last long, but I'll take it for now. Well, hunker down, drink something that will warm you from the inside out, and paint, paint, paint!

You're so funny! I love the little cartoon by Erin. Nicely done...is Erin your offspring?

I'm sorry, I did not mean to rub it in :-) It was actually not welcome that we had to turn on the airconditioning because just a few days before we had freezing temperatures with rain and flooding in certain areas. So it isn't like we live in paradise down here. Besides, we are surrounded by giant blow-up Santa and other figures atop car dealership buildings. I'm not even going to tell you about the traffic especially this season. I can think of other undesirable things but it would occupy a lot of space. :-)

Carla: I know! The video clip I linked showed the same thing in eastern Canada: skateboarders in shorts, etc. As for painting -- how I WISH I had the time right now. That'll have to wait for about 10 days...

Jana: If I had a female offspring, Erin is a name I'd choose for sure! No -- just plucked it off the internet from a school site. :) BTW I checked out the symbolic artist you gave me the link to -- and wow. Her stuff is good! I even checked out her workshop prices but Ashland is in southern Orgeon so just a bit too far for me to do two weekends in a row... (and I love the phrase "downward mobility"!)

Ces: That's better! :)

Hey Andrea,
Thanks for checking in on me - although this is the first chance that I've had to be online since the storm (and it is temporary - since my power STILL is not on). Glad it sounds like you made out better than we did!

Sorry Joyce but the handsomemanthing has been around for years and I would never ever lift something from a sensitive artist like andrea.
Here in Humanitoba the Winter has been docile and cooperative...just wait until the 24th when the needle drops down to the minus 20s...or maybe global warming will kick in...hey does anybody want to know about the Earth's elliptical rotation on it's journey around the sun and how every 40,000 years it somehow becomes more circular therefore creating variations in temperature which causes the Polar Caps to contract and expand at a predictable rate?
I didn't think so...you would all rather blame SUVs!
