hunting and gathering

8" x 6.5" mixed media on archival black paper

Ever wished you could be like Jackson Pollock without the cans of house paint, giant, room-filling canvas and alcoholism? If so, go here. Don't forget to move that cursor.

That was fun. I can't wait till I take my students to their next computer lab and direct them to that site.

Love the metallic on black stuff you are doing. It's so dramatic and textural.

Hunting and Gathering is gorgeous, Andrea.

So there I was after clicking on the interactive link (before, of course, going to the Pollock link).

And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. A blank screen. Duh. But, being one to so closely follow direction, I moved the mouse (by accident, actually).

And began to paint. Or scribble. Or whatever that is. Round and round, click and it changes color.

After 3 minutes, I WAS Pollock. Wasn't I?

So, OK...what are your thoughts. How much is his stuff really art? Cmon. Cmon.

I'm slow to respond -- sorry. Rotten week.

Andy, Toni, Susan, Kiki, Tara: Thanks.

Brian: How'd it go?

Jordan: I discovered that by mistake, while contemplating my great artwork. :)

WW: You are now an artist! As for "is it art" -- well, maybe not. But Pollock's work is definitely art, partly because he did it first. Did you know that Pollock is one of the only artists whose work is impossible to forge?

Barbara: I've been doing these on and off for about a year. I'm expecting a great, new white gel pen in the mail soon!

Swampgrrrl: Thanks for the ultimate compliment! :)

Merlinprincesse: Addictive, isn't it?

Very beautiful! I like the warmth of the gold contrasting with the coolness of the silver particularly.

Your work always looks so much larger--I'm surprised when I see the dimensions written beside it. Is this a painting that might also be done large? The design of the painting is so exciting--the eye moves around, following the lines and shapes, finding exciting details to explore along the way. It's a beautiful representation of the harvest as well as hunting/gathering.

Wow! I just perused some of your art, and I'm very impressed! Beautiful!

Thanks for visiting my blog. :-)

Hey - do you know about a magazine called Cahoots? I think it's at www.cahootsmagazine.com. It's a beautiful new magazine produced by a couple of talented women in Saskatchewan. (I had an article in the last edition.) Anyway, the reason I mentioned it is they always feature art on their front cover, and yours would be PERFECT! You should get in touch with them. In fact, I may just go there and send them a link to your site.

This was fun! Did you see the movie about Pollock w. Ed Harris and Marcia Gay Harden. Was good. And I love your black paper work.

I love this picture - for some reason it reminds me of my childhood, I think because I used to love those scratch & foil picturs you could buy to do.
