winter ash

ASH (Nion) February 18 - March 17
In Celtic mythology the ash is known as the tree of enchantment; it is said that the Welsh magician Gwydion fashioned his wands from ash wood. The Celts believed that they came from the Great Deep or the undersea land of Tethys. It is this reason that the Ash is associated with the sea (the seahorse and planet Neptune are associated symbols).

Ooohhh... lovely colors. Very serene.

As a Pisces (also associated with the sea and the planet Neptune), I guess Ash would be my tree.

I wish I could buy the complete set! They'd look so good on the passage wall...

Wow! These colors seem very different from your usual (which I tend to think of as warm and spicy). The cool clear green and icy blue seem perfect for the deep northern undersea land.

Andrea - while I love your paintings, I really LOVE love love your drawings! I think I need to start a fund so that I can save up and buy one from you with enough money for framing.

Angela: And I'm guessing your birthday is between Feb 18th and March 17?

Dinah: I promise to take photos of them all hanging when they're done.

Jana: I had trouble with these colours as they are foreign feeling to me.

Cynthia: Thank you! And BTW these are made to fit the 50cm x 50cm Ribba frame at IKEA -- only $20 (in Canada).

Well...just beautiful, as usual. I kind of run out of superlatives. And I'm no art critic, so that's all I can say.

I love the ocean associations.

In my Celtic tree books, Ash is also known as the Tree of Life - partly because it's roots are proportional to it's branches - hence equally bridging heaven and earth. Imagery I also find intriguing.
