christmas etc.

'Tis the season to ignore one's computer for days at a time. Dave Walker says it best:

Once the kids are no longer in elementary school (as of this year for us) the Christmas season gets a little more manageable, though. That said, I have nothing else on my mind except my hairdo, so I've decided to post a few links to kick start the old engine.

***********************

I make art with paper. What's the big deal anyway? This is the big deal and it's not origami. Neither is this ~ and talk about challenging the boundaries of what we think of as paper.

But back to Christmas. While on your cross-continental flight to holiday spots in the sun, look out your window and see if God has taken a hand in reminding you that it's not all about tropical vacations and mountains of presents. Try not to spill your cocktail. More here.

This is what I want for Christmas but Jana's not sharing.

Finally, the present for the person who has everything. I looked for the one made out of clear acrylic with a lot of coins embedded in it but apparently Rawstyle's not trendy enough to sell that one. Ho ho ho.
And now, back to preparing for this.

You do find some snazzy links!
If Rawstyle didn't have the loo seat you want, come to Australia...here, you can get seats with rusty barbed wire, redback spiders and who knows what else.

Kewl!
That bird's eye shot gave me TONS of guilt!
As far as shoppin' goes, I am finito. It's a breeze when the Teen and Young Adults tell you EXACTLY what they want..OR ELSE...but thank goodness I still have a 6 year old who is still excited about being surprised.

I didn't see very smiles at the mall last week. I wonder if our society will ever get past this vapid, formulaic, tradition:
I love you this much = $ spent on your prezzie?

I look forward to the end of the Hollowdays whereupon Safeway will stop stocking the shelves with Eggnog. It arrives the day after Hallowe'en and I am powerless...

I wonder if there is a 12 step program at Noggers Eggnonymous?

I enjoyed the links, the paper art is just amazing, and I really like the LOO seats lol!

Shopping was easy this year, most of it done over the internet, and collected items over the year. I don't have a large family so it isn't much of an issue, thank goodness.

Dinah: Redback spiders! I want that one, as much to ward off spiders inside the toilet as anything!

Heather: regular gold bullion will do. I'll take a dozen please.

Melody: Adn to you -- and I hope you get a break from all that snow you've been having.

Paula: I bet you could paint some toilet seats that would blow these out of the water! Ours are wooden -- can I ship them to you?

Nadine: hairdo sounded so much better than plain old hair -- the same plain old hairdo I've had these last 6 years.

Cream: I come up with a few on my own but the real links genius is Rudy, so thank him. I like to think I add a little with the interpretations, though. :)

HE: I never thought I'd say this but now that youngest is 13 I wish we had a 6 year old, too! As for the mall, my solution is to shop online. And you and Greg should get together. Eggnog is his huge holiday Achilles hell (typo -- but it works), too.

Jafabrit: There you go -- online shopping! I love it.

Hi Andrea. Heh heh, funny post. I love the loo seat! By the way, I just linked to you on my post today - got your blue house back from the framers and it is such a visual treat each morning as I sit, coffee in hand, bleary eyed, looking out at the birds arguing over seeds. Then my eyes come to rest on your print and I smile to myself. Thank you so much again :)

Oh my, the Buddha on a toilet seat!

I 'love, love, love this season and its not about the presents but just the feeling I get. Although I do enjoy giving my kids presents. But mostly I like the trees, the lights, the food and wine, the visiting with friends and family.

WW: It's the meditation factor, not that I'd ever do such a thing at such a time! :)

Alda: I know I know...

Camplin: I'm totally impressed. How long must it take to create those paper sculptures I wonder?

Ziggi: and to you, too!

CS: The best of times, the worst of times...
