Hi Lona. I underpaint the basic composition in dark or intense hues, loosely outline the areas and images in "silver" (iridescent white with a little black), then do the final painting leaving the underpainting and silver outlining poking through around the edges. It does give a bit of a stained glass effect when viewed from a distance.

Nice work! It looks like the background is made in glas with Tiffany-technique. I'm wondering if that is on purpose or is it only similar.
